Sun Goblin is progressive folk, blending storytelling and poetic lyrics with instrumental technicality and pristine powerful vocals. The sound is like good soup, familiar and warm but also full of flavor and substance. If you like Heart, Fleetwood Mac, or Amelia Day, meet their quirky cousin.

Sun Goblin has built a dedicated following in Asheville, NC frequently drawing 40-80 people. They are known not only for the quality of their performances, but also for the interesting and creative events that they throw. It’s not odd to see a burlesque performance, a clothing swap, or someone getting pied in the face at a Sun Goblin show. The band has released a DIY comic book and several short stories that fold into the lore of the band.

The band formed in 2022 when songwriter Aurora Whim met brothers Kevin and Danny Murtha, drummer and bassist. The chemistry was instant, but the secret sauce that made Sun Goblin feel like something special, came in the form of James Eddington on lead guitar.

The band released their first EP, titled “Emergence: First Mud” in October 2023. The record was created with sound engineer Patrick Doyle (engineer for Jennifer Lopez’s platinum single “Booty”) at Artcore Studios in Asheville. The mastering was done by Grammy-nominated Phillip Shaw Bova (engineer for Father John Misty and Feist).
